First Day of School- EVER!!!!

Caleb and Emma are NOW IN SCHOOL!  That is right folks, we have ourselves a pair of Kindergartners!!!  This mommy could not be more pleased and excited! YIPPEE!!!

We have been talking about "going to school" for a long time with Caleb and Emma.  Emma has been so excited and ready for months now.  She is my little people please and wants to do well with everything that she does.  School is going to be great for her!  I hope that it helps her learn to stand up for herself and to speak up, when she tends to want to be shy around others.  Caleb on the other hand only had two worries about school..."Where do I eat lunch?" and "Are you going to pick me up when it is all over?"  I have to laugh because he is SUCH A BOY!!!  Nothing else really seems to matter.  That boy is so smart, but sometimes prefers just sitting back and listening to everyone else or being a little clown.

I love the fact that they will be at my school and at the same time, that worries me a little.  I know I have good kids, I am told all the time how wonderful they are or how well behaved they are, but at school is also mommy and daddy's place of work.  With people we work besides.  With students that know us as Mr. and Mrs. Wiese.  All the these questions have been going through my head..."What if they are naughty and people think I am a horrible mother!?!?!"  or "What if they totally embarrass me!?!?!"  Then I also find myself worrying about them not being able to do school....like, "What if they don't hear the bell and just keep playing at recess?!!?" and "What if they don't eat lunch well and are hungry?!?!"  But thankfully, a very wonderful co-worker put my mind at ease.  "Katie, they are just like every other Kindergartner.  If they forget stuff it is OKAY! And NO ONE will hold it against you!"  I love the people I work with!

Getting my babies up for "school" today was fun.  They were so excited.  I have never seen my son get dressed so fast!  It was amazing!  They couldn't wait to get to school to eat breakfast, see their teacher and meet new friends!  But like every good mom, I had to get the first day of school picture!!!

Caleb and Emma Wiese - Kindergarten 2013

Before I took the kids to breakfast, we stopped by their classroom to give their teacher a plate of homemade white chocolate chip/cherry cookies and a gift card for coffee.  We wanted her to know how much we are looking forward to the year and support her.  Caleb and Emma were very tickled to get a picture with Mrs. Malvini.

After that stop, next was breakfast.  I did the mom thing and walked them around to the cafeteria to show them the ropes.  They seemed nervous, but I know that after a few days it will be no big deal at all.  They ate breakfast really well and outside we went.  Emma remembered right where they had to line up.  It was super crowded with parents of Kindergartners.  Emma seemed not to even notice all the people, but I could tell Caleb was a little overwhelmed by it all.  He almost started to cry, but held it together.  I was proud of him.  And this mom, nope, no tears! SCORE!  I really knew that I would not cry.  I was too excited!    I had to laugh at a couple moms that we carrying on as if their kids were going to BOOT CAMP or COLLEGE!  WOW!!!  Just Kindergarten people, you will see them in 7 and half hours...calm down!!! SIGH...oh well...everyone is different.  I just look at each step in life as a new adventure.  I enjoy watching my kids grow up and seeing who they are becoming.

Caleb and Emma in line ready for the first day!!

So off they went!!  I didn't see or hear from them until they walked by the library at lunch time heading to the cafeteria.  They both waved at me.  Then I saw them in the hall at specials time, but they did not have me.  After school, I picked them up in the front of the school, just like I promised Caleb I would.  They both said what a great day they had!  They were happy and hungry.  Ready for a treat!!!  But poor Caleb, in my office, before anything else, had an accident.  YEP!  The poor kid wet his pants.  And I am not talking just a little bit.  Nope, I mean, full on puddle on my floor!  Thank the Lord it is not carpet!!  He started to cry so hard.  I felt so bad for him.  Neither of my kids have accidents, so I was so surprised.  I asked him if he had gone potty at all today and he said no.  He said he was too afraid to ask.  But I am guessing it was more of he was having so much fun and he didn't want to miss anything.  So, I started to clean up the mess and Emma started doing a potty dance in front of me.  I had to make her run down to the potty before we had two accidents.  Thankfully, she made it.  And the office has dry clothes for kids that have accidents.  So I borrowed dry clothes for my boy.  All was fine!  We talked about going potty at school.  How it is okay to ask and you HAVE TO DO IT, or you might get sick.

On the way home it was absolutely no surprise when they both fell asleep!  Kindergarten is a tough job!!! Those two didn't even fight bedtime tonight.  They are in dream land, excited about tomorrow...DAY 2!

 My tired little Kindergarten babies!
