Spring Break and Easter

Caleb and Emma - Easter

I wish I had a lot of exciting things to tell you about our spring break. I wish I could tell you that we packed up and went some where topical and sunny. I wish I could tell you that we went camping and hiking. I wish I could tell you that I got a great tan just playing outside with the kids, but I can't say any of that. It was too cold and yucky during spring break to do anything really. I was able to get some house work done and things that I have been putting off. That was not really fun or exciting though!

Easter weekend brought Rick's mom to town along with Auntie Debbie and Uncle Jim. Emma and Caleb were thrilled to get to spend time with Uncle Jim. They love him to pieces! The love Grandma and Auntie Debbie too, but there is just something about Uncle Jim! Emma has always loved to be with Jim. Even when she was itty bitty, he was the BEST to her. So it was fun for them to get to.

Thursday night when our company arrived, we invited cousin Jeremy, Josh and Josh's girl friend Stacey over to eat a yummy supper of chicken enchiladas, homemade salsa, guacamole, rice and chips. Then we just played and visited until it was bed time.

Friday was pretty relaxing. Hung out at our house with our company. We got pizza for supper and them Rick took is family to see "No Greater Love" at First Church of the Nazarene. The kids and I stayed home. I enjoyed my quiet alone time with my kiddos.

Saturday was shopping day! We shopped for Easter basket goodies and little last minute things that we needed for Easter Sunday. That night Jeremy came over to eat and hang out with us again! That night after the kids went to bed, the Easter bunny came to our house.

Caleb got up first on Sunday morning. He was really excited about the Veggie Tale marshmallows that the Easter bunny brought them. Other than that he was still kind of asleep. Then Emma got up and oh my was she excited. She didn't want daddy to put her down, but she couldn't wait to see everything that she got. Once the sleepiness wore off they were both totally into all the great stuff! They each got a new back pack (Caleb got Elmo and Emma got Disney Princesses)! They each got 2 new outfits from mommy and daddy and 1 from Grandma Renee. They got new sandals for summer, books, a new stuffed animal, candy and bubbles for outside. The Easter bunny was WAY TOO GOOD to them!

Then it was off to church for our Easter block party. Our church always has a Easter egg hunt for all the kids and this year there was a youth/adult Easter egg hunt, which was so funny. Rick even got in on the egg hunt. They always serve muffins, cinnamon rolls, juice, milk and coffee in the fellowship hall. We always have the bouncy toys and carnival games also. Following the morning of fun we have our church service.

The Easter egg hunt this year was so fun with Caleb and Emma! Emma was a pro egg collector again this year. As you remember from last year, Caleb got 2 eggs and was done. This year he got the idea. But he knew there was stuff inside and wanted to open them all up as he got them. That slowed him down a little bit, but he started going at it after the first couple. It was like after he saw the first couples piece of candy, a light bulb went on in his head and he knew it was "get as much as you can". Then he was off!

The like the bouncy toys and didn't want to get out. Caleb and Emma loved the muffins and juice inside. They ate more of mommy's muffin than I did! Ha Ha! Then it was off to Sunday school/nursery for them and off to service for us.

After church it was home for naps (for everyone that is but me). I cooked a nice ham dinner for all our company and Jeremy came over for supper too.

It was a nice Easter, I just wish the weather would have been nicer. Oh well, there is always next year!
