It is amazing how fast the year has gone. I know that I have been wishing and hoping for summer to hurry up and get here, but I am still amazed that another school year is over!
It was a good school year. I, yet again, left for summer vacation, feeling lucky to work with such great staff and students. I had some personal struggles during the year, but my outlook for next year is better. I know that the Lord can get me through any situation and I know that He walked me through a lot of it this year. I feel like I did what God needed me too. So I am at peace with that struggle.
Things happen in life that you make you wonder "why?". With the death of one of our second graders our life at school whirled before us. It is crazy how those students worm their way into your heart! This was the 2nd student that I have lost to a car accident in my 5 years working for Vallivue School District. It was just as hard as the first time. Makes me hug my students a little hard and a little longer! I DO LOVE MY KIDDOS!! And I love my job, because I get to love every kid in the school! I feel very blessed to have them in my life. And this Memorial Day, little Gerado and his family were on my mind and in my prayers.
With year I have had, I am so ready for summer vacation and look forward to the adventures that it will bring our family!
This last weekend, Memorial Day Weekend, we had company. Rick's brother, Ron, his wife, Karin and their daughter, Chrissy came to visit us from Deer Park, WA. It is always so fun to see them! We have such a good time together.
It was not the warmest weather, but Saturday was pretty nice in the afternoon. So after nap time we went to the zoo in Boise. I was so excited to see the new animals that have arrived since last summer when we were there!
Caleb and Emma had so much fun at the zoo! We will be going back several times this summer. It was so fun to watch the kids see the animals in person and not just in the books in our living room! Caleb was fascinated by the monkeys and the lions! Emma loved the giraffes! They were such big kids walking around the zoo and exploring. They tried to say all the animal names and do the sounds. I was so proud of them too! They listened so well and stayed with someone at all times. No throwing fits, no crying, no pouting....just BIG KIDS!
On the way home we asked the kids what their favorite animal at the zoo was. Caleb said he like the monkeys and Emma said she like the elephants. Okay, well, there are NO real elephants at Zoo Boise. But there are elephant statues that spray mist! Ha Ha! So that was her favorite part I guess!
Here are some zoo pictures:
