Caleb and Emma's Birthday Wish

AMAZING KIDS!!!  Yes...that is just what I have...amazing kids!  This year for Caleb and Emma's 5th Birthday they have decided that they have enough toys and stuff.  We talked it over and the idea of collecting food for the Idaho Food Bank seemed like a great plan.  We had no clue that the idea would grow into something so huge!

Caleb and Emma decided that they wanted a Dr. Seuss party.  It was fun playing for the big day!  The invitations were very Dr. Seuss...the cupcakes were very Dr. Seuss...and the house was filled with Dr. Seuss books and characters.  I even had a dear friend who agreed to be Cat in the Hat for me!

The birthday party gang!!!

The plan was to just have their friends at the party bring canned food for the Food Bank.  Then some other people found out about it and wanted to donate.  So I thought let's put it on Facebook and see if anyone else in the area would want to help Caleb and Emma with this.  So I created a Facebook event, called Caleb and Emma's Birthday Wish.  WOW!  The response was fabulous!  Food and money started to pour in and out house started to be over taken with nonperishable food.

A friend from church nominated Caleb and Emma for Seven's Heroes.  It is with Channel 7 News.  They honor people who doing amazing things for their community.  What an honor!  Caleb and Emma were selected.  The day that we got to take the food and money to the Idaho Food Bank, Channel 7 was there.  

I am truly amazed that two little kids compassion can make such a difference.  They collect almost 500 pounds of food and over $120 for the Idaho Food Bank.  The President of the Food Bank, Karen Vauk, was there to meet Caleb and Emma and thank them.  She told them that the amount they brought in will provide 760 meals!!! That is WONDERFUL!  Caleb and Emma were not so impressed with the cameras or the idea of being on TV.  They had so much fun helping at the Food Bank.  They loved helping unload the boxes and boxes of food, seeing the Food Bank, and helping to bag up some oranges so they would be ready for people who come in needing food.

I am so proud of my kids!  I am thankful that they know what compassion is and what it looks like.  I pray that they will always be so loving!

Caleb and Emma will be on Channel 7 News - KTVB - February 24 at 10PM and again on the morning addition on the 25th.  We can't wait to see it!
