Emma and Caleb turned a year on the 31st of January. It is hard to believe that a year has gone by...time flies when you aren't sleeping! HA HA! With their birthday came mommy's emotions. Happy, sad, joy, disbelief and excitement, just to name a few. Also, I start to reminisce about our journey to this point. It was so long and hard, but well worth the wait! I wanted to post my pregnancy journal to share, even though it is old. I am so glad that I have it to share with Emma and Caleb when they are older. So I hope you enjoy reminiscing with me!

After 4 years of trying, praying and waiting for a baby of our own, we found out today that we are PREGNANT!
After 4 years of trying, praying and waiting for a baby of our own, we found out today that we are PREGNANT!
God is amazing! Without Him none of this would be possible! I give Him all the glory in this amazing time in our lives! What a wonderful blessing I am receiving!
I can't wait to be a mommy! I have been dreaming of this for so long! Probably since I was a little girl playing with my baby dolls. I am thrilled!
Please continue to pray for us and the beautiful little one growing inside of me! Pray that God keeps the baby safe and healthy! And the MOMMY as well!

Prego: 5 Weeks
I am still on cloud nine with the news that I am going to be a mommy! Rick, of course, can't wait to be a daddy again! he is so cute and loving. He will touch my belly and smile, knowing that there is a life growing inside of me. It is an amazing thing!
I am still feeling pretty good. I get tired pretty fast and need a nap during the day. I also feel nauseous after i eat or if I get too hungry. Last night, I had a root beer float...baby didn't like that and I threw it up! HA HA! I will not be having root beer floats for a while! I have noticed that chewing gum settles my stomach if I am nauseous.
On Monday I had another blood draw so the doctor could check my HCG levels. They we up to 6,000! The doctor was very pleased with that and said everything seems to be on track and healthy. I have my first ultra sound on Friday, July 13th. I am very excited about that!

We had our first ultrasound today. All was well. In fact, we are having twins!!! we got to see both babies and both heartbeats!! It was absolutely beautiful! The doctor printed our pictures of them together and each one by themselves.
Two at once! WOW! God is AMAZING!

Prego: 10 Weeks
We had another ultrasound today. Both babies are doing wonderful. Their heartbeats are strong and they were moving and wiggling all over the place! It was so amazing to see.
I am still having a lot of nausea, but actually throwing up is rare. Which I am thankful for, but the nausea is getting old! My doctor told me to take a 1/2 of a Unisom and a B6 before bed each night and that should help with the nausea the next day. So I am starting that tonight! Anything to help!
Dr. Slater said the due date is about March 3rd, but with twins they are usually about 5 weeks early. So that puts it at the end of January or beginning of February. That will be interesting to see when they decided to come!

Prego: 16 Weeks
We had another doctor appointment yesterday. All is great! My blood pressure is normal at 120 over 70. My pee test came back normal. And they listened to both babies' heartbeats! It was nice to hear them again! I wish I could hear them every day!
We bought the crib and changing table. The is set up and the changing table is on order. I will be slowly working on the nursery! I can't wait to have it done! I am so excited to hold my little angels!
We have started to register at Babies 'R' US. And plan to register at Target and Walmart too.
I am growing lots and my skin is stretching. IT HURTS!!!! No one told me that would hurt...but I guess I should have known! HA HA! Duh on my part! Oh well, I am hanging in there!
We find our the genders in October! Hopefully the babies are not shy!

Prego: 20 Weeks
We had our 20 week ultrasound yesterday! We started at 3:30PM and didn't finish until about 5PM. They checked both babies from their heads to their toes. It was amazing watching them and seeing their faces, feet, hearts and yes, the little gender parts!
oth babies are going great! They are developing normally and are measuring a week ahead. So they are very healthy. We were very happy to hear the heartbeats again and both were strong and in normal range.
We have the gender news!! We are sooooo thrilled! We are having a little GIRL and a little BOY!!!! We are being blessed with each!! God is so amazing! What a great gift after all our struggle and waiting for a child!
Our little boy will be named Caleb Richard Wiese (Caleb, because I love it and Richard after my husband, Rick). Our little girl will be named Emma Renee Wiese (Emma after my great grandmother who is gone now and Renee after my mom, my hero and friend).
I am so excited! I can't wait to hold them and kiss them!

Prego: 24 Weeks
I have grown a lot in the last month since I have had my last OB appointment!! I had my doctor appointment this last Thursday. I was a pretty fast visit.
They weighed me. I am up to 160 pounds. I am carrying these babies all up front. From behind people can't even tell I am pregnant! That makes me laugh, because I sure feel pregnant! HA HA!
My blood pressure is staying normal and in good range. But I have had a little bit of foot and ankle swelling. But not every day. I also have had a lot of nose bleeds, which I guess is normal for pregnant women because they are producing so much extra blood for the baby...in my case babies.
The doctor listened to the babies' heartbeats. Caleb's heart rate is 148. And Emma's heart rate is was 153. Both strong and normal. It is always nice to hear those little beats!
The babies are on the move what seems like all the time! I have some strong kickers inside of me! And the fun thing is that we can see them move on the outside now too. Rick love to watch and feel them move inside of me. What a miracle they are!
My next appointment is on the 27th of November for another ultrasound. (With twins they do more ultrasounds than a normal pregnancy.) Then on the 29th I see the doctor and do my glucose test! YUCK! I have heard it tastes awful! I enjoy my doctor appointments, then I get more information about my little ones.
I had my breastfeeding class this last Wednesday night. It was a very good class! But I felt a little overwhelmed. I know it will be fine...but with 2 it seems like so much. But I am determined to breastfeed not matter what.

Prego: 26 Weeks
I had an ultrasound on Tuesday of this week and a doctor appointment was on Thursday. All is well with Caleb and Emma! They are growing fast and kicking mommy in the ribs all the time! The ultrasound showed us that both of their heads are down now. This is very good! The doctor said that with twins it is VERY unlikely that they will switch out of this position so late in the pregnancy. So hopefully, there will be no need for a C-section, unless one of the babies becomes in danger.
The last appointment my bell measure 29 cm. This time it was up to 34 cm. The doctor said this is right on track for 2! I also have only gained 31 pounds! My nurse was very happy about that.
They did my glucose test and that came back perfect. So I don't have to worry about diabetes! They also checked my iron level and it was low. I am anemic. So I have to take extra iron (325 mg of ferrous sulfate with 250 mg vitamin C). They also told me to use Suma to help with constipation...if I get it due to the extra iron. Also that I MAJORLY need to drink more water!! My blood pressure is great too! So a little anemic...but other than that I am doing great! I still do not have any stretch marks. I use lots of lotion and hope they stay away...but it is not over yet...so we will see.
I am trying to work on the nursery right now. But is sure takes time, which is something I feel I don't have right now. The theme in the room is Teddy Bears in jade green, tans and browns. We have the crib and bedding set up and the changing table. We put up the curtains this week! It is starting to look really cute! We need to find a dresser and a little bookshelf for the room. Also I need some wall decorations.
We bought the car seats tonight! We did not get matching ones. One is a little more girlie and the other is definitely for a boy! But I am glad to have that bought and taken care of!
I need to start looking for nursing bras with NO under wire. All the extras...sigh...and not fun extras!

Prego: 29 Weeks
I had a doctors appointment this week...Thursday. All is well! My blood pressure is staying perfect! I am so thankful for that. My weight is up to 176. So I am staying on track, but not getting overly huge. Dr. Davis is glad to see that. My belly measurement stayed right at 34 cm. Dr. Davis was not concerned about that because I did gain weight...which means the babies are growing! YAHOO!
He listened to both heartbeats. Emma's heart rate was 144 and Caleb's was 141! Both normal and healthy! He told us how much the babies weighed 2 weeks ago at the last ultrasound. Emma was at 13 oz. and Caleb was at 15 oz. We have another ultrasound on the 28th of December, so we will see how much they weigh in another 2 weeks! This is the time that they are really going to put on the weight! We are praying for them to be at least 5 to 6 pounds each! I don't want them in NICU!
We finished our birthing classes this last week. It makes me really excited the closer we get! I still have a lot to do in the nursery. We still need to find a dresser and a little book shelf. I need to buy a clothes hamper and garbage can too. I need to sort through the hand me down clothes and put them in bins by age.

It is becoming more and more difficult to sleep at night. I am up going to the bathroom 2 or 3 times and then finding a comfortable position is hard too! I am a tummy sleeper and that has been out of the question for a long time! HA HA!
My family and friends in Rapid City gave me a very nice baby shower. I love them all and miss them. It was so nice to get to see them even if it was for just a long weekend.

Prego: 31 weeks
We had an ultrasound and doctor appointment this afternoon. We are getting closer for these little ones to be here with us! YAHOO!
First and foremost, the babies are both growing normally and VERY well! HA HA! From the ultrasound today they got an idea about how much the babies weigh now. Emma is weighing in at 4 pounds 1 ounce. Caleb is weighing in at 4 pounds 7 ounces. They were a little concerned about Emma's weight being less than Caleb's, so they checked the blood flow from Emma's tummy to the placenta. All was well! They just figure that she will be a little thing like her mommy! Poor girl...trouble putting on weight already...sigh!
Both of their heartbeats were nice and strong and in normal range. Emma's heart rate was 146 and Caleb's was 143. I love hearing those sounds!
Today Emma showed her cute little face and Caleb hid from us! Ha Ha! Last time it was the other way around! they are definitely a like in many ways already. And yet, they will be so different. They took a couple pictures of Emma's profile. They are beautiful!
As for mommy, I am doing great! My blood pressure was prefect yet again and my weight is in normal, healthy rang. I weighed in at 180 today. That is only 4 pounds since the last visit. Not too bad! My nurse said i still look so darn cute! HA HA! I don't feel real cute...but I know that after these babies are gone I will look like my old self again. My nurse thinks I will have no problem being back to my normal size within a month or so of having the babies. Breastfeeding2 will help that also!
My feet and ankles are still swelling off and on, but they told me today that the trouble starts with that, when the swelling doesn't go away after resting. So I guess I am still okay.
When I go to bed at night the heart burn is so bad it keeps me up! Tums have become my new best friend! HA HA! And i have to say, the smoothie flavored ones aren't too bad! So between laying down and getting heart burn (not matter what I eat) and getting up and peeing every 2 hours...I can't believe I can function during the day! I feel like I am not sleeping at all.
We finally bought a dresser today. It should be here within a week or so. I am getting anxious to get the nursery done! I have little things I still need to get. And will do that this week while I am off still. I hope to have the room mostly done with in the next week or so! I have 2 baby showers coming up so that will fill in gaps or missing items.

Prego: 34 Weeks
All right, here is the latest on the Wiese twins!
We had an ultrasound and doctor appointment this afternoon! All is great! The babies are still very active...amazing with the fact that they have very little room to move around in there! They are growing well and fast! Dr. Davis said that Emma is weighing is at about 6 pounds 4 ounces! And my little man, Caleb is weighing in at 6 pounds 5 ounces! So Emma is making a great push to catch up with her brother! Both heart rates were in normal range. Emma's was about 142 and Caleb's was about 136. Also...the most exciting part...is that in the ultrasound they said both babies have lots of HAIR!!!! I am so excited not to have little baldies! I am sure it will be dark like Rick and I...but I do have reddish colored hair that runs in my family...wouldn't that be something!! HA HA!
As far as mommy goes...I am hanging in here quite well according to my nurse, Jen and Dr. Davis. They said I look amazing for twins and are very proud of me! My blood pressure was a little high today, 142 over 80. Jen had me lay down for a couple minutes and then it went to normal range at 124/70. She was glad to see that.
I am still swelling in my feet and ankles. It is starting more and more in my calf area, but goes down after a nights rest. My joints in my hands are swelling and they hold me to take some Tylenol and DRINK LOTS OF WATER!! (I am trying...but then I pee every 2 minutes!) Sunday night I had some contractions, but they were far apart and I have not had any since! Plus I am having a lot of pressure in my pelvic area. My breasts are swelling and hurt...and the leaking is a new and fun adventure! HA HA! So my body is getting ready...butcould be a couple weeks still!
AND...I still have not stretch marks! I am floored by that! I am still getting lots of heart burn at night when I lay down...that is so much fun too! NOT!
My mom told me tonight she will be coming out from South Dakota for 2 weeks! I am really excited about that! I know my mother-in-law wants to come out too.

The nursery is in its finally stages! I am finishing up their clothes and will touch up the room this week! Then I am done!

The days are ticking away! I am so beyond ready to meet my little angels face to face! I am beyond ready to be a mommy and hold their little hands, kiss their little cheeks and love them more than anything in the world!!! My prayer is that they are healthy and strong when they are born! The Lord has kept them in me a long time for twins and I know His plan is always good! I am putting all my trust in Him that when Emma and Caleb are born, they will be perfect in His eyes! I am truly receiving one of the most beautiful gifts in the world!
We had another doctor's appointment today. All is looking great! My tummy is still measuring at 42 cm. And I have only gained a couple pounds since last week! My blood pressure was a little high again, but when they took it laying down it was fine...so all is well.
Dr. Davis also check my cervix. I am not dialated, but I am 90% effaced!! He could fell Emma's head pushing down. She is getting herself ready to come out! He said see you in a week...IF NOT BEFORE!!!! I am hoping before!
He was very positive about me not having a C-section! YAHOO! So that sounds like a plan to me!
