A Day at the Boise Zoo

Our children's group from church had an outing to the Boise Zoo today. This was Caleb and Emma's first church group outing and first time to the zoo. We had so much fun! There is so much to see and really is a nice time for mommy and daddy to get out into the fresh air and play too!

We all met at the church at 10AM this morning. Then we car pooled over to the zoo. We all had packed lunches so we ate in the park outside the zoo first. That was nice. It was still fairly cool and comfortable. Then after we were done eating we headed into the zoo.

First, stop the monkeys. Caleb and Emma were not too interested in the monkeys. This could be because it was so loud and crowded in there. They had a hard time seeing anything. The next fun thing was the giant crane. This bird had the loudest and strangest honk I have ever heard. It made Caleb and Emma jump every time it honked. They were not scared, but they were quite interested in him.

Emma really love the penguins. She stood in front of the

glass and watched them for a long time. I think she wanted to pet them, kiss them and hug them. She watched them with the greatest wonder in her eyes. It was really cute. Caleb like them too but really just wanted to play on the stairs in the penguin house.

We saw almost everything that we could. We got to see the bear, the zebras, the llamas, all the big birds, the snakes and other reptiles, the tigers...you name it...if it was there we saw it! Then we stopped for an ice cream break! Caleb and Emma's favorite! Emma and her big buddy Hannah, were being totally goofy! And Caleb just wanted to make music with the empty ice cream container and spoons!

After the ice cream we went and checked out the hands on stuff at the zoo. The giant egg, the tiger statues, the giant lizard and turtle statues. Caleb and Emma loved them. Caleb wanted to stick close to daddy and Emma wanted to go with the big girls...walk with them...hold their hands. (No thanks mom...you are old news!) But it was cute to see their personalities come out. Emma, little Miss Independent and Caleb my little home body.

Caleb did find something that he was interested in. Near the hands on toys daddy and Caleb found the meerkats. Oh Caleb loved those! He stood with daddy and watched them. Caleb was pointing and jibber jabbering about them to Rick. It was super cute!

On the way home Caleb and Emma passed out...dead tired and ready for a nap! Too much fun for one day! We can't wait to go back to the zoo again soon! Anyone want to join us?
