Monday, after the funeral, we had a lot of family time. It was wonderful! We as a family, my grandfather, father, uncles, aunts and cousins, buried Grandma ourselves. It was touching and hard all rolled into one. But I am glad we did it. The sun was shining and the birds were singing! I know Grandma was watching.
We headed out to Grandpa's house to just be together. We laughed, cried and talked. And of course, tried to eat up the left over food so Grandpa was not left with too much. He gets stressed about that. It was so good to be together. It was something that Grandma loved...us all being together as a family. That is something our family is really good at. We get together and it feels like we have never been apart! What a blessing!
I am one lucky woman!! Thinking about Grandma Carol and Grandpa Norb...getting to spend time with my grandfather, aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family was a true blessing. Grandma and Grandpa have quite a legacy! Grandpa even said this week, that what we have as a family, you can't buy...and he is right. Grandma would have loved the service we gave her and all the family time we had. I know she was smiling on us and will be forever! And it was an honor to speak at the funeral and I thank the good Lord that He gave me the strength to be able to do it.
I think the best way for our family to keep Grandma alive and honor her is to continue to love each other unconditionally like she loved us, love the Lord like she love Him and raise our kids to know Him!!
