At the Ocean...Day 1

The Oregon coast!!! WE ARE HERE!!!

We got to Nehalem Bay State Park last night about 5PM. My favorite part about the drive is seeing the ocean for the first time....it is so exciting to know that you are at the ocean!! I love seeing it through the trees driving down the coast highway. It is the most amazing sight! There is nothing quite like the OCEAN to overwhelm you with the greatness of God. It is so vast and huge. I always wonder if there is someone on the other side of the ocean look out over the waves...wondering about someone on our side, looking out over the same great ocean. I know that is a little random....weird...hard to understand. But I love the OCEAN!

The kids were very excited about the "ocean". They had no clue what the ocean was, but they could not wait to see it. We talked about it a lot before the trip and the whole drive over.

The Bowerman's pulled in about an hour later. We had a nice evening at our camping spots.

This morning we got up and went to play on the beach! This was the first time that the kiddos got to see the ocean and the beach! Emma was ready to run to the waves right away and Caleb was a little overwhelmed by it all. That was okay. We just didn't push him to go in the water.
Emma went out to the waves with Dee Ann first, got hit by a big wave and decided it was time to play in the sand. Caleb cried because he didn't know what to do. SO....we all played in the sand and enjoyed the sights and sounds of the ocean.

After a couple hours of playing we decided to head back to camp to clean up and drive up to Tillamook to eat lunch at Tillamook Cheese Factory. We didn't tour, just ate lunch.

This evening we went to supper in Cannon Beach at Dooger's with the Bowerman's and our other friends, Jim and Ellen Lester. Caleb and Emma wanted hot dogs and macaroro (macaroni and cheese in their language). It came to the table looking like an octipus on a bed of mac and cheese. They thought that was really fun!! We all enjoyed wonderful seafood...I am still full!!! YUM!

Enjoy the pictures from today!
