Today was a little tough for Grandma. When we got up, she was still really tired and complained of back pain. She had not slept as well. She seemed really out of it. So she ate(but not as good as she had the two days before), took her meds and went right back to bed. It was good for her to sleep. So hard to see her that way.
So while Grandma slept, I watch TV and enjoyed the animal visitors! I caught some of the action on video today to share with you. The deer are funny. They fight over the corn fed that Grandpa puts down for them. If you watch close, you can see one of the deer bully one of the pigeons that came to eat today.
Grandma got up about 10 AM. I again helped her shower and get dressed. Samantha was over visiting. We had a few laughs as Sam tested out some of Grandma's scarves on her bald head again. I love that Grandma has such a good attitude about everything. After a little bit, it was time for Grandma to eat a little before heading to Fergus Falls for her radiation treatment.
Treatment was quick today, took about 20 minutes. Grandpa and I talked about how this is really wearing Grandma down. She is more tired than she has been in the last five days. She was getting lots of her energy back. But like Grandpa said, all this stuff they do, whether it is chemo or radiation, it is all poison of some kind and will affect the body. He said, at some point they will have to decided to just stop all this and just let the body do what it is going to. It is so hard to hear, but seeing Grandma like this, I understand. No one should have to deal with this the way Grandma is. And it is just has hard on Grandpa and the rest of us. The stress that my Grandfather is dealing with, I can only imagine. The amount of thoughts in his brain floating around must be huge, because I know the thoughts and stress I have been dealing with.
After we left, Grandma wanted to go to the store to get Easter candy for Sunday. So I helped her shop. We went really slow and got that done. Then Grandpa has to stop at the vet in Pelican Rapids for some calf medicine. Grandpa then treated us to an ice cream cone, which Grandma really seemed to enjoy.
When we got home it was time for Grandma's medicine again then she went back to bed. I sat in the living room and proceeded to fall asleep too. I guess I was more tired than I thought.
Couple hours later, the pastor stopped by to check on Grandpa and Grandma. He visited for a little while, then prayed with us. I love how much support they have!
The evening seemed to be better for Grandma. The couple naps really gave her some pep in the evening. We spent the evening relaxing and watching This Old House. Then we called it a night.
Little tougher day, but still good to be here to help.
